Kids' 11 Piece Play Couch

The couch arrived promptly. Unfortunately one cover had a broken zipper pull and a second cover had an extremely tough zipper.

I email customer service about the issue. They were excellent to deal with and sent 2 replacement covers immediately.

The play couch has been a great addition to our cushions and other fort making supplies at home. It’s been really helpful to get creative and for blowing off big energy.

This is the second couch that we have purchased because the kids love their first one so much. The original couch we bought is still in excellent shape despite being used for a gymnastics mat, slide on the stairs, fort, bed and even occasionally a couch. It’s large and comfortable enough to use as a couch for an adult if you need extra seating, but it’s best to have the back against a wall or the back cushions will slide. Any spills on the couch have wiped up easily without leaving any marks. These couches get a lot of use and still look like new.

Who doesn’t love a “100 % from start to finish” Canadian company? Plus the couch is sturdy and has so many options for building. Would recommend to any parents looking for a play couch !

Of all the options out there, we went with Barumba largely based on the recommendation of The Montessori Room (online store and physical store in Toronto). They chose to carry this one based on the number of different shaped pieces that you get in a single set, as well as the size of the pieces (smaller compared to some couches) which allows for more independent building. They were right! Ours sees use every day, and the fact that our three year old can move the pieces herself (except the biggest one) means she can build what she wants to build without needing much help from us. I also loved that the waterproof liners are included. While this set is a bit pricey compared to some of the ones you can get, you get a lot for it and I think it is worth the price. One note - I was hoping it could function as a spare "bed" for guests in a pinch, but I tried sleeping on it and it was too firm for me. Kids can sleep anywhere so they'd probably be fine, but don't count on it for adults. Not a knock against the couch, as that's not what it's made for - just a note that this may not check this box if that's what you need.

Substantial feel to the bricks. Very strong. Love the fact that have a water PROOf cover under the bring and comfy water resistant one.

I looked at ALL of the play couches before settling on this one. The features, quality, safety, and EVERYTHING about this couch seemed far superior to me. I cannot believe that this isn't getting more visibility. I found countless reviews on the competitors but this is like the little known secret golden egg. With 11 pieces, the sky is the limit for what the kids can create. With a waterproof lining built in and all washable covers, I don't have to worry about accidents. They are vacuum packed so the box it comes in is surprisingly compact (around 1.5' square wide x 4.5' tall maybe?) and they make them in small batches so they come right to life (i was worried that I'd have vacuum smooshed pieces for days and hiding a whole couch for weeks before Christmas didn't seem like a feasible option! The firmness seems just right to me, comfortable for sitting (solid enough for adults), tough enough for building, soft enough for when the kids whack each other over the head. The price may seem high when you compare to other brands but when you really scrutinize what you're getting, there is so much more value since other brands make you pay for waterproof liners as an add on and the cost per piece is less than $50 vs more than $60 per piece on the more popular brand(s). Only suggestion I have is to offer more colors to meet more home aesthetics (fortunately the navy went perfect with our decor but other brands have a lot more options here).

Bottom Line: I had to talk my husband into this purchase but we have no regrets. Countless configurations, unlimited play opportunities.

We got it for child’s one year birthday and they already love it for climbing and playing on. 10 year old cousins also have had so much fun making forts with it

I ordered one for my 13-14 month old son and he loves it just as much as I do. It’s comfortable and fun to use the different shapes and pieces to make forts or just to sit on. Would recommend to anyone who’s on the fence on whether to buy or not.

We were shopping for play couches and carefully went through the tons of options on the market today. Ultimately, we went with Barumba because of the clean materials and the positive reviews of the product lasting a long time even with rough play. We thought of this purchase as a bit of an investment and so far we are not disappointed. My son is turning one in a few weeks and is very mobile and already loves tumbling on this couch.
